I came for bahn mi and was told they didn't have anymore, but I was able to order a baguette, pate, a side of cilantro, and jalapenos but "ok". It was my first time there and I also ordered the fried rice with chicken shrimp and beef. All of the meat was dry and old. The cashier told me that the food is precooked and "cooked" again when someone orders. The shrimp was over done and DRY AF. The restaurant was dirty and they only cleaned the tables after they saw me take pictures. The tables were full of half eaten food. That should have been my sign not to eat there. Waste of money and time
Been here to the location quite a few times. Service is always good and fast. We always come in just right after the lunch rush so there’s always plenty of seating available. Love the murals on the wall, very creative! I’ve always ordered the Bo Ne Houston (the Original) and it’s always satisfying. Th portion is just right and the steak is tender and flavorful. I’ve had the Bo Steak before and is just as delicious, such a big chunk of steak that’s perfectly sizzled. Our order’s normally come with salad and baguettes with pate which we enjoy as well. This time we ordered the fresh shrimp spring rolls, which didn’t make the photos cause they were so good we just gobbled them up. They were freshly made, we can tell from the way the noodles consistency and the sauce it came with, chef’s kiss! Will definitely keep coming back for the Bo Ne and to try other dishes.
Good food. Bad service unfortunately. First the floor was disgusting—apparently they don’t own a broom I’m guessing? Chopsticks,spoons, napkins and food scattered everywhere. Silverware also looked a bit grimy, not shiny. Menus were laminated but they were wet when handed to us. Next, my family of 5, received only 3 waters. I assumed he was gonna come back with more but he never did 😭. Just like another review I saw on here, they take your order, bring the food, and never come back. Never checked on us once! When my brother ordered for more sauce the waiter said “okay.” And then started laughing at us… a bit odd.
The place setting is nice. Good atmosphere. The food is ok not good enough for me to come back, although the bread is good and fresh. Rest room clean and not dirty. Service I didn’t like at all. They serve you once and never come back to check on you or give you refills. They don’t take used plates off the tables as you finish whatever your eating and have to call them each time for things you may need even asking for the bill:/ not my place.
Overall the years, this has been a go to breakfast and lunch joint for me. It’s a Vietnamese take on steak & eggs. Always served on a piping hot cow skillet. Bread, butter, pate, and a house salad accommodates the bo new specials. Almost always ask for extra butter and pate! In recent years, I don’t go often anymore since it’s quite a far drive. Prices have gone up a few bucks, portions has gotten smaller and the place itself isn’t so clean anymore. Kinda depressing. I still enjoy it but it’s not what it used to be. Now there are other places that has open and serves the same dish but I do find myself coming back here. It’s good but not great.
